Ameristar Fence Installation: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
In Orlando, a full Ameristar fence installation typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 depending on linear footage, fence height, gate count, and whether we’re pulling old posts or setting new ones. We stock Ameristar-compatible posts, rails, brackets, and gate hardware locally, and most installs are completed within two to four working days once materials are on site. If your Ameristar fence is leaning at the corner, sagging at a gate, or a panel popped loose after a summer storm, you’re not looking at a mystery. You’re looking at a post that failed, a bracket that corroded, or a gate hinge that finally gave out after years of Orlando humidity and afternoon thunderstorms.
Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar makes several fence product lines, and the parts are not universally interchangeable. The main series you’ll see in Orlando neighborhoods are Montage, Echelon, and the classic Ornamental Steel line. Montage is the heavier commercial-grade panel with a welded steel frame and punched infill. Echelon is lighter and often sold for residential side yards. Ornamental Steel comes in both a light residential gauge and a heavier commercial gauge. The quickest way to identify what you have: look at the top and bottom rails. Montage rails are square tubing, typically 2″ x 2″. Echelon rails are a rolled C-channel profile. The Ornamental line uses round posts with a flattened rail connection.
The gotcha we see most often in Orlando: a homeowner replaces a 5′ tall gate leaf with a 6′ panel from a different series, and the hinge spacing doesn’t line up. Measure the gate opening before you buy anything. Also note that Ameristar changed its powder-coat finish spec around 2016. Older black fences fade to a chalky gray; newer panels hold color longer but can still show rust at weld points after five to seven years of Florida rain and irrigation overspray. We’ll tell you honestly whether an OEM Ameristar part or a quality aftermarket equivalent makes more sense. For structural posts and gate hinges, we recommend OEM. For brackets and tension bands, a properly sized aftermarket part often costs less and lasts just as long.

Signs Your Ameristar Fence Installation Is Failing
- Fence leaning more than 10 degrees at a post. This usually means the post base has rusted through below grade, or the concrete footing was never poured wide enough. In sandy Orlando soil, a 6-inch footing around a 2-inch post won’t hold for long. We typically see this after heavy rain loosens the surrounding dirt.
- Gate dragging on the ground or binding at the latch side. The hinge post has shifted, the hinge bearing is worn, or the gate itself is slightly twisted. Dragging gates will tear up the finish on the bottom rail and eventually ruin the latch.
- Rust bleeding from the bottom of panels or at welds. In central Florida, we see this more on fences within a few miles of a lake or heavily irrigated lawns. The coating has failed at the seam. It may be cosmetic now, but once rust starts at a post base, the structural clock is running.
- Panels rattling or lifting out of the brackets. The internal spring clips or screws have loosened over time. This is one of the cheapest fixes we do, but left alone, a panel can drop in a windstorm and damage whatever it lands on.
- Gate won’t stay closed or slams shut on its own. The self-closing hinge spring is done, or the gate was hung slightly off-level from day one. This matters more than people realize in Orlando. A gate that slams will eventually crack the weld at the hinge, and then you’re replacing the leaf, not just the spring.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For an Ameristar fence installation in Orlando, most of the jobs we quote fall between $3,500 and $9,000 installed. A standard 50-foot section of 6-foot ornamental steel with one walk gate and removal of the old fence typically lands around $4,200 to $5,800. A 150-foot perimeter with two gates and angled corners can push toward $9,000. The variables that move the price: linear footage, fence height, gate count, whether we’re removing and hauling old materials, and what’s underground at each post location. Sprinkler lines, existing concrete, and old footings all add time.
The quote we give you is a written price before any work starts. No verbal estimate that grows on the final bill. It includes materials, labor, old fence removal, post setting, panel install, gate hardware, and cleanup. We also back every completed installation with a written guarantee, and if something fails within 365 days from the completion date, we return and make it right at no cost. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
DIY or Call Us?
Some parts of an Ameristar fence are safe to inspect and even replace yourself. Checking which series you have, measuring gate openings, tightening set screws, and clearing rust with a wire brush are all reasonable weekend jobs. But setting new posts in Orlando soil is where do-it-yourself projects tend to go sideways. Clay, sand, and a high water table mean a post hole that looks solid today can be a wobbling mess after one rainy season. If a post is leaning or a gate is sagging, that’s not a bracket problem, it’s a footing problem. And a 6-foot steel panel coming loose in a storm is a genuine hazard. Call us at (850) 920-7745 if you’re unsure. We’ll tell you what we’d do if it were our fence, and if it’s a small fix, we’ll tell you that too.
FAQs

In Orlando’s climate, an Ameristar fence with properly set posts typically lasts 15 to 25 years before the steel begins to show structural fatigue. The coating and finish will fade or show rust at welds well before then, usually within 7 to 10 years. Posts fail before panels do, which is why footing depth and concrete width matter more than panel quality for long-term life. Call (850) 920-7745 if you’re seeing post lean and we’ll come assess it. Estimates are free.
Frequently, yes. Individual panels, brackets, and gate hinges can be swapped without rebuilding the whole fence. If the posts are solid but a few brackets have corroded or a gate leaf is twisted, we replace the bad components and save the rest. If multiple posts have failed or the fence is leaning in several sections, replacement is often cheaper than chasing individual failures one at a time. Call (850) 920-7745 and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Most Orlando Ameristar fence installations take two to four working days from start to finish, depending on fence length, gate count, and old fence removal. The longer part is usually material lead time after we measure and order. Once materials arrive at our shop, the physical installation moves quickly.
We keep common Ameristar-compatible parts in stock in Orlando: posts in several gauges, rail brackets, gate hinges, latches, and self-closing spring hardware. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for other cabinetry and surface projects, but for Ameristar-specific structural components like Montage panels or custom gate leaves, we order based on your exact measurements. That usually adds three to five business days. Call (850) 920-7745 and tell us what you’re looking for. We’ll check the shelf while you’re on the phone.
