Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We install and service Atlas kitchen remodeling components throughout Orlando, and a full kitchen remodel with Atlas cabinets and hardware typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on kitchen size and material grade. Most homeowners find us because a cabinet box has pulled loose from the wall, a drawer glide has snapped, or a hinge plate has stripped out of the frame after years of Florida humidity working on the wood. Here’s the honest picture: some of these failures are ten-minute fixes, some mean replacing a cabinet face or a full box, and the difference comes down to how the cabinet was hung in the first place and whether the original installer sealed the raw edges before the first Orlando summer hit.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas kitchen cabinetry has been specified in a lot of Central Florida builds, and over the years we’ve worked on everything from their standard overlay line to modified full-overlay boxes that show up in the newer construction around Lake Nona and Horizon West. The compatibility question that trips up most owners is this: Atlas changed their hinge boring pattern on select door styles around 2016. If your cabinet doors are original to a pre-2016 install, the hinge cup spacing may not accept a modern Atlas hinge without drilling a second bore. That’s checkable in thirty seconds with a tape measure: the distance between the two hinge cup screws on the door itself. The older spacing is 42mm. The current Atlas standard is 45mm. If you measure 42mm and order new off-the-shelf hinges, they won’t sit flush. We keep both spacing patterns in stock because we run into this exact problem on roughly one in every three service calls in the older Orlando neighborhoods like College Park and Colonialtown.
When it comes to OEM Atlas parts versus quality aftermarket, the honest answer is that for hinges and drawer glides, the aftermarket options from Blum and Salice are often superior to the original Atlas hardware, and they’re what we install by default unless the homeowner specifically wants OEM. For cabinet boxes, doors, and face frames, you stay with Atlas or you don’t match the finish. There’s no third option that looks right.

Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- A cabinet door that won’t stay closed (the “bounce-back” door): The hinge’s internal spring has weakened or the clip that holds the hinge arm to the mounting plate has worn. In Orlando’s humidity, the steel clip corrodes faster than it would in a dry climate, and the door starts springing open half an inch no matter how many times you push it shut.
- A drawer that scrapes or binds on one side: The undermount glide has slipped a mounting tab or picked up corrosion. If the drawer still opens but sounds like it’s dragging gravel, the ball-bearing cage has started rusting, which happens faster here than anywhere north of the state line.
- A cabinet face pulling away from the wall: This is usually not the cabinet’s fault. The original installer anchored it to drywall with screws instead of hitting studs. The cabinet has been slowly leaning forward for years, and now you can fit a finger behind the top rail. That’s a re-hang, and it should be done before the box twists enough to crack the face frame.
- Water damage at the sink base or dishwasher opening: The bottom shelf of the sink cabinet softens and starts to sag. What you’re seeing is uncompressed particleboard wicking moisture from a small leak or from years of condensate in a humid Orlando kitchen. Once the panel flexes, it’s a replacement, not a repair.
- A hinge plate with stripped screws that won’t retighten: The door starts dropping at the outer corner. This usually means the screw holes in the cabinet stile have wallowed out from years of use. We repair these with threaded inserts rather than toothpicks-and-glue, because the repair should outlast the original installation.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Atlas-specific repairs in Orlando, here’s where your money goes:
- Hinge replacement (per door): $35 – $85 installed, depending on hinge type and whether we’re matching pre-2016 or current spacing.
- Drawer glide replacement (per drawer): $75 – $160 installed for undermount glides, including removing the drawer, cleaning the mounting channel, and indexing it square.
- Cabinet re-hang to studs (per box): $120 – $200, including backing out the old fasteners, hitting actual wall studs or adding blocking, and resetting the box level.
- Sink base bottom panel replacement: $150 – $300, depending on access and whether the cabinet box is Atlas standard or modified.
- Full kitchen remodel with Atlas cabinetry: $14,000 – $45,000 installed, and that includes tear-out, cabinet install, countertops, sink and faucet, backsplash, and finish trim. The spread comes down to kitchen footprint, cabinet line grade, countertop material, and whether walls or plumbing need to move.
Every one of these numbers is a written price before we start. No verbal range that grows at the end. Our work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which runs 365 days from the date the work is completed, and it is written on the paperwork, not implied. If a repair or installation fails within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. A live person answers every call, including weekends and holidays, at (850) 920-7745.
DIY or Call Us?
If you can identify which hinge or glide is shot and you’re comfortable with a screwdriver, there’s nothing dangerous about replacing a hinge plate or a drawer glide yourself, as long as you measure the hinge cup spacing first. Where DIY goes sideways is when the problem is structural: a cabinet pulling off the wall, a sagging sink base, or a door that’s dropping because the frame is twisting. That’s not a hinge problem, and forcing a new hinge onto a warped frame just moves the problem around. The other honest warning is that once you strip a hinge screw hole by running a bigger screw into particleboard, the repair gets more expensive. Call us at (850) 920-7745 and we’ll talk through what you’re seeing before anyone schedules anything. As Isaac Pruett says: “Tell me what the problem is. We’ll figure out the rest from there.”
FAQs

In Central Florida’s humidity, you can expect Atlas kitchen cabinets to give you 15 to 25 years of solid service before hinges, glides, or water-adjacent panels start needing attention. We see the first failures sooner in kitchens with poor ventilation or years of small under-sink leaks, and later in homes where the cabinets were sealed properly on install and the HVAC runs year-round like it should here. Call (850) 920-7745 for an honest assessment if your cabinets are in that window.
Yes, if the damage is to the hardware or a localized section like the sink base bottom. We replace hinges, glides, and damaged panels regularly. The exception is a cabinet box that has absorbed water into the side panels or back panel, because the box itself loses structural integrity, and you’ll be chasing problems a year from now. For an exact recommendation, call us at (850) 920-7745 and we’ll look at it before any work gets quoted.
Replacing hinges or drawer glides on an Atlas kitchen takes an hour or two for a single door or drawer, and about half a day if we’re doing every door and drawer in a standard Orlando kitchen. Cabinet re-hangs and sink base panel replacements take longer, usually a half-day to a full day depending on access. We’ll give you a time window when we schedule, and the price is written before we start.
We keep common Atlas hinge types, both 42mm and 45mm cup spacing, plus Blum and Salice drawer glides and mounting hardware on our service vehicles. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on the broader remodel side, so if your Atlas kitchen needs a matching cabinet or a full refresh, we’re not starting from zero with the material partners.
