Belgard Home Additions & ADU: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We install and service Belgard-compatible home additions and ADU projects across Orlando, with most full additions running between $45,000 and $130,000 depending on square footage, foundation work, and finish level. If you’ve got a Belgard paver patio, retaining wall, or hardscape feature that’s tied into an existing structure and it’s starting to fail, the usual culprit is ground settlement or drainage working against the base layer underneath. We stock common Belgard replacement pavers, edge restraints, and joint sand on the truck, and we can typically assess your site and give you a written price within one visit. Isaac Pruett and our crew have been pulling these projects together across Orlando for years, from College Park bungalow additions to full ADU builds in the metro area, and we’ll tell you straight what needs replacing versus what’s still solid.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To
Belgard makes a wide range of hardscape products, and the compatibility question usually comes down to which product line your original installer used. The big three we see in Orlando are the Catalina series (smooth, modern pavers often used for pool decks and patios), the Holland stone (a traditional rectangular paver that’s been around for decades and shows up in plenty of Orlando driveways), and the Mega-Arbel line for retaining walls and raised patios. Identifying what you have is straightforward: most Belgard pavers have a product name stamped or molded on the underside, and retaining wall blocks usually have a code on the back face. If the original paperwork is gone, we can match the color, size, and texture in person. Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners never hear about: Belgard has changed some of its color blends over the years. A “Sierra” paver bought in 2015 is not the same shade as a “Sierra” paver made today, even though the name never changed. For small patch jobs, that means we sometimes pull from multiple batches to get the closest visual match. For additions and ADUs, we specify current-production Belgard units so consistency is never a gamble. As an independent contractor, we’re not affiliated with Belgard directly, but we’ve built enough projects with their product lines to know what holds up in Florida’s heat and rain.

Signs Your Belgard Hardscape Under an Addition or ADU Is Failing
- Pavers are sinking or creating a low spot near the foundation. This almost always points to a base layer that wasn’t compacted enough or has washed out over time. Orlando’s sandy soil shifts more than people expect, and when water finds a path under the base, you get settlement.
- Edge restraints are pulling away or breaking. The plastic or metal edging that keeps your pavers locked in place takes a beating from lawn equipment and heat expansion. Once it fails, pavers start drifting outward at the perimeter.
- Joint sand is washing out after every heavy rain. If you see sand collecting on top of the pavers or pooling in the corners of your patio after a storm, the joints aren’t holding. In Orlando’s afternoon downpour season, that’s a warning sign the base drainage isn’t doing its job.
- Weeds are pushing up between pavers repeatedly. A few weeds here and there are normal for any paver installation. What’s not normal is the same spots coming back weeks after you pull them, which usually means the joint sand has compacted too far or the base fabric underneath has torn.
- Retaining wall blocks are tilting or bowing outward. This is the one to take seriously. A leaning Belgard wall near an addition foundation can indicate water pressure building behind the wall, and in Florida’s clay-heavy pockets around Orlando, that pressure can get substantial after hurricane season.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a full home addition or ADU build that ties into existing Belgard hardscape, you’re looking at $45,000 to $130,000 installed across Orlando, with the spread driven by square footage, whether we’re pouring new footers, and how much of the existing hardscape needs to come out and be reset. Smaller jobs, like pulling and re-setting a failed paver section under a landing or repairing a retaining wall that’s pressing against an addition, run somewhere south of that when the structural work is minimal. Every written quote we provide includes the parts, labor, base material, haul-off of old material, and a clearly stated warranty on our workmanship. We don’t do verbal estimates that grow on the final bill. The price we put on paper is the price you pay. For Belgard-compatible work, we also factor in the cost of matching current production runs, which means sometimes a small part of the bid accounts for pulling pavers from multiple pallets to get the color blend right. That’s the honest version of what it costs.
DIY or Call Us?
Pulling a few pavers to check what’s underneath is something a careful homeowner can do, and we’ll walk you through what to look for if you call. But here’s the line we won’t cross in good conscience: anything involving a retaining wall that’s holding back soil near a foundation, or any hardscape that sits under structural load from an addition, should be evaluated by someone who does this for a living. The danger isn’t the paver itself. It’s what happens when you pull blocks out of a wall that’s already under pressure and the whole section lets go. That’s a problem that gets expensive fast. If you’re in Orlando and your Belgard hardscape is failing under or around a structure, call us at (850) 920-7745. We’ll come out, tell you what’s actually wrong, and give you a written price. Tell me what the problem is. We’ll figure out the rest from there.
FAQs

A properly installed Belgard paver surface should last 25 to 40 years, but the base underneath it typically needs attention at the 10 to 15 year mark in Orlando because of our sandy soil and wet-dry cycles. Call (850) 920-7745 if you’re seeing settlement before then.
Most of the time, yes. We can pull the affected section, re-compact the base, replace any damaged pavers with current-production Belgard units, and re-set the area without tearing out the surrounding structure. The exceptions are when the base has failed across the entire pad or the wall is structurally compromised.
A paver section repair under a landing usually takes one to two days on site. A full addition or ADU with integrated Belgard hardscape runs weeks to months depending on scope, permits in Orlando, and weather. You’ll get a schedule in writing with your quote.
We carry common replacement pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and wall caps in the Belgard lines most common across Orlando, and we can order specialty units or current-production color matches for anything we don’t have on the truck. You never have to source parts on your own.
