Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Blanco-compatible driveway and paver components for Orlando homeowners, with most paver driveway installations running $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, existing base condition, and access. If you’re staring at a sunken paver, a crumbling edge restraint, or a Blanco drain channel that’s pulling away from the slab, you’re not chasing a cosmetic annoyance – you’re looking at the early stages of a base failure or water intrusion problem. In Orlando’s heat and afternoon downpours, a failed paver edge or drainage channel doesn’t just sit there; it spreads, usually within one rainy season. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Blanco, and we keep common Blanco-compatible edge restraints, drainage channels, and paver replacements on hand for the homes we serve across Orlando.

Which Blanco Models This Applies To

A remodeled kitchen with painted cabinets and a farmhouse sink

Blanco’s hardscape and drainage product lines are not like their sink lines – there’s no single model number stamped on the face of the paver. What matters is the profile and the channel width. Most Orlando driveways built with Blanco-compatible drainage use either the Blanco SlimLine channel (roughly 4-inch width) or the wider DriveLine body (6-inch and up). The gotcha we see repeatedly: a homeowner measures the grate, orders a replacement channel based on that number, and discovers the actual channel body is a different width entirely. The grate is always narrower than the channel it sits in. Measure the trough, not the grill.

For the pavers themselves, Blanco-compatible units in Florida are almost always a 60mm or 80mm paver (about 2-3/8 or 3-1/8 inches thick), with the 60mm used for walkways and patios and the 80mm specified for driveways where vehicle weight is a factor. If you have a 60mm paver on a driveway, that’s a problem in itself – Orlando code and every manufacturer we work with call for 80mm minimum under vehicle traffic. As for OEM versus quality aftermarket: Blanco-branded drainage channels are solid products, but we’ve had equal or better longevity from aftermarket polymer concrete channels with galvanized steel or ductile iron grates, and they often cost 20 to 30 percent less. The paver side is where we tell Orlando homeowners not to chase a brand stamp – a quality concrete paver from a Florida supplier that matches your existing color and dimensions will perform identically.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Sinking or lipped pavers near the Blanco channel. This is the classic early warning. The channel’s sub-base was likely not compacted properly during the original install, or water has been escaping from a cracked channel body and washing the base out. In Orlando’s sandy soil, water leaches fast and creates voids that pull pavers down with them.
  • Visible cracking along the channel grate edges. Blanco-compatible channels take a beating when drivers cut the corner on the driveway or when large trucks roll over the edge. The polymer concrete body is tough, but a cracked edge means the grate is no longer seated and water is bypassing the channel entirely.
  • Rust staining running off the grate. If the original installer used a cheap steel grate instead of galvanized or ductile iron, Florida’s humidity will eat through it in five to seven years. The staining is ugly, but the real issue is the rusted grate can fail under load and collapse into the channel.
  • Edge restraint popping loose. The plastic or aluminum edging that holds the driveway’s outer pavers in place is the first thing to fail in Orlando’s heat. UV exposure makes plastic edging brittle within a few seasons, and once it lets go, the outer course of pavers starts drifting apart within months.
  • Water pooling against the house or garage after rain. If your Blanco-style drainage channel is clear but water still puddles at the garage door, the channel’s outlet pipe is likely crushed or clogged below ground. We see this often in Orlando neighborhoods like College Park and Baldwin Park, where original drain lines were undersized or routed poorly.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a partial paver repair around the Blanco channel or edge zone, Orlando homeowners typically spend $500 to $1,200. A full Blanco-compatible drainage channel replacement runs $800 to $2,500, depending on channel length and whether we’re cutting into existing concrete or working within pavers. A complete paver driveway replacement with proper base, new edge restraints, and a Blanco-compatible drainage system lands in the $7,000 to $18,000 range we mentioned up top. What drives the spread: total square footage, whether the existing base is salvageable, and how much we have to excavate to get the compaction right. Every quote we write includes materials, labor, haul-away of old material, and the written price you’ll see before a single tool comes off the truck. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies here like everywhere else: if the work isn’t right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: run water through the channel with a hose and see where it exits, look for obvious paver lipping with a straightedge, and clear debris from the grate. Replacing a single cracked paver is also within reach for a patient DIYer with a rubber mallet and a bag of paver sand. Where Orlando homeowners get into trouble is pulling up a channel, redoing the base, or re-setting an edge line without the right compaction. A drainage channel that’s re-set too high drains nothing; one set too low grabs gravel and clogs. And if you’re going to do it, do it before June – paver work in Orlando’s rainy season means fighting the water table and the afternoon storms. If any of this sounds like more than a weekend project, call us at (850) 920-7745. Tell me what the problem is. We’ll figure out the rest from there.
