Moen Bathroom Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

A Moen bathroom remodel in Orlando typically runs $9,000 – $28,000 installed, depending on whether you’re replacing a single Moen fixture or gutting the whole room. We stock Moen-compatible cartridges, trim kits, valve bodies, and showerheads on our trucks, and we can match most Moen models still in production same-day.

Most Orlando homeowners discover a Moen part has failed the hard way: they turn the handle and get a trickle where there used to be pressure, or the temperature swings hot and cold mid-shower, or water pools behind the wall and shows up as a soft spot in the drywall three weeks later. Sometimes it’s a cartridge that’s worn out after eight years of hard Orlando water. Sometimes the mixing valve has corroded from mineral buildup and the only real fix is opening the wall. Isaac Pruett has seen every version of this problem, and he’ll tell you the same thing he tells every customer: “Tell me what the problem is. We’ll figure out the rest from there.”

Mason Remodeling Co Orlando is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Moen. That said, we buy Moen factory parts directly and we know the series differences that matter when it’s time to match hardware to plumbing.

Which Moen Models This Applies To

If your Moen bathroom is older than ten years, the parts you need depend on the series. Moen’s posi-temp valve (used in the Kingsley, Banbury, and Voss lines) is the most common in Orlando homes built in the 1990s and 2000s. The moentrol valve (found in the Monticello and Concentrix lines) takes a different cartridge and a different trim kit entirely. The newer M-CORE valve, which Moen introduced around 2015, is a third system, and its cartridges don’t fit any of the older housings. This is the single biggest compatibility gotcha we see: homeowners buy a Moen cartridge online assuming all Moen parts interchange, and they don’t.

Here’s how to identify what you have before you buy anything: pull the handle off and look at the brass behind it. Posi-temp valves have a visible white plastic stop on the stem. Moentrol valves have a round brass body with two screw holes at 4 and 8 o’clock. M-CORE valves have a nearly flush face with a recessed hex. If you’re not comfortable opening the wall or the valve, call us and we’ll identify it from a photo.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Moen specifically, we install OEM cartridges 9 times out of 10. Moen’s plastic cartridges have tight manufacturing tolerances, and the aftermarket versions from generic brands tend to fail within a year or two and then void your Moen warranty. The savings is maybe $20. It’s not worth it. Where we do sometimes use aftermarket is trim kits and showerheads, which are lower-stakes and easier to swap if a finish ever fails.

Signs Your Moen Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • The handle turns but the water temperature won’t hold. This is usually the pressure-balancing spool inside the cartridge wearing out. Orlando’s hard water accelerates this, especially in homes on well water in areas like Bithlo or Christmas. The fix is a cartridge replacement, not a full remodel, unless the valve body itself is scored.
  • Water drips from the spout or showerhead after you shut it off. A slow drip almost always means the cartridge seats are worn or mineral-crusted. If it’s been dripping for months, the seat inside the valve body may also be pitted, and at that point a cartridge swap won’t fully fix it.
  • The handle is loose or the trim plate has pulled away from the wall. This is a mechanical problem, not a plumbing one: the mounting bracket was installed on a rough wall and the tile work has settled around it. We see this often in Orlando’s older neighborhoods like Colonialtown and Delaney Park where homes shift with the humidity cycles.
  • You hear a hammering sound when you shut the shower off. Water hammer in Moen systems is usually a worn check valve in the mixing valve or improperly secured pipes behind the wall. It’s loud and annoying, but it’s also stressing every joint in that wall. You want it addressed before a pipe fails.
  • Rust-colored stains keep appearing on the tub or shower floor. That’s the valve body itself corroding from the inside, and it means replacement, not repair. In coastal Orlando-adjacent areas with higher salt in the groundwater and air, we see this failure earlier than the 15-20 year lifespan Moen typically advertises.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled hall bathroom with patterned floor tile and painted walls

A full Moen bathroom remodel in Orlando falls between $9,000 and $28,000. A fixture-only replacement, where we swap a failed Moen valve and trim without moving walls or tile, lands toward the bottom of that range. A complete gut with new Moen shower system, tub, tile, and vanity pushes toward the top.

Here’s how the numbers typically break down in the Orlando market:

Scope Typical Installed Range
Moen cartridge replacement only $180 – $340
Moen valve body replacement (wall opened, repaired) $700 – $1,500
Moen tub-to-shower conversion $3,500 – $10,000
Moen walk-in shower installation $4,500 – $12,000
Full Moen bathroom remodel $9,000 – $28,000

Every quote includes the parts, the labor, the drywall and tile repair if we have to open the wall, and cleanup. You get a written price before any work starts, and that price doesn’t change unless you change the scope. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we installed fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a Moen cartridge is one of the few plumbing jobs we’ll tell a homeowner to try. There’s no water pressure hazard if you remember to shut off the water at the main before you start, and the worst case is you get stuck and call us anyway. What we don’t recommend DIYing is anything that involves opening the wall, replacing a valve body, or re-tiling around a Moen shower system. That’s where water damage gets expensive fast, and where Florida’s humidity means a small leak behind the wall turns into mold much faster than in drier climates. If you’re not sure which situation you’re in, call (850) 920-7745. We’ll ask a few questions, look at a photo if you can send one, and tell you straight whether it’s a $300 fix or a full remodel.
