PGT Fence Installation: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
PGT fence installation in Orlando typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full perimeter install, with most projects landing between $4,500 and $6,500 depending on linear footage, post depth, and whether we’re replacing an existing fence or starting fresh. We stock PGT fence panels, posts, and hardware locally, and we can usually schedule installation within a week or two of your estimate. The most common way Orlando homeowners discover a failing fence part is a post that’s started to lean after a summer storm, or a gate that drags against the ground because the hinges have pulled loose from softened wood.
PGT fencing is built for coastal and high-wind conditions, which matters in Orlando more than people realize. Our afternoon thunderstorms and the occasional tropical system put real lateral stress on fence lines. When a PGT fence is installed correctly, with posts set below the frost line and proper concrete footings, it holds up for years. When it’s not, you’ll know within one season.
Which PGT Models This Applies To

PGT manufactures several fence product lines, and the installation approach depends on which one you have. Most Orlando homes we see have either the PGT aluminum ornamental fence, the PGT vinyl privacy fence, or the PGT composite fence system. Each uses different post profiles, bracket hardware, and gate hinge assemblies, and the parts are not interchangeable between series. If you have a PGT Westminster or PGT VinylGuard line, for example, the post caps and rail brackets are sized specifically to that series, and grabbing a generic big-box equivalent usually means a loose fit and premature wear.
To identify yours, look at the post cap or the bottom rail. PGT stamps or labels their product series on the inside of the post caps or on a factory sticker near the gate hinge. If the label is gone, measure the post wall thickness with a caliper. PGT aluminum posts run 0.062 to 0.080 inches depending on the series, while PGT vinyl posts are thicker than most off-brand vinyl at 0.135 inches or better. We keep OEM PGT fence parts in stock for the series most common in Central Florida, and we’ll tell you honestly if a quality aftermarket post or bracket will do the job as well. For gate hardware, we don’t substitute. That’s where failures hurt people and property, and the OEM hardware is worth every nickel.

Signs Your PGT Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts leaning more than five degrees off plumb. Nine times out of ten in Orlando, this is shallow footing. Our sandy soil and heavy rain erode around posts that were never set correctly, so the post loses lateral support and starts drifting.
- Gate drags or won’t latch. The hinge screws have stripped out of the post or the post itself has shifted. PGT gate frames are rigid, so when the gate sags, the problem is almost always the post or the hinge attachment, not the gate panel.
- Rail brackets cracking or pulling away. PGT rails lock into routed slots in the posts. When the post shifts, the bracket is the first part to fail. You’ll see stress cracks at the screw holes or the rail will actually pop loose from the post.
- Concrete footing heaving above grade. If the footing was poured too shallow or without proper drainage, our wet-dry Orlando soil cycle will push it up. The fence line will look wavy, and the posts will no longer align with the top rail.
- Wind whistle or panels flapping in storms. When PGT panels are properly seated and the rails locked, they’re quiet in high wind. Noise or movement means the rails have lost their seat or the post spacing is off, which compromises the whole section.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Full PGT fence installation in Orlando runs $3,500 to $9,000, and the spread comes down to three things: linear footage, post depth requirements, and whether we’re hauling away an old fence. A typical 150-foot vinyl privacy fence with one gate will land around $5,000 to $6,000 installed. That includes all PGT panels, posts, post caps, hardware, concrete for the footings, and the labor to set, level, and align every section. We dig Orlando footings to 24 to 30 inches, which is deeper than code in most municipalities, because we’ve seen what shallow footings do after three years of wet season.
Every quote is a written, line-item price before any work begins. You’ll see the exact cost for materials, labor, gate hardware, and disposal, and that number does not change once we start. If you only need a section replaced or a gate re-hung, we’ll price that separately, and it runs significantly less than a full install. All PGT fence installation work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the fence settles, shifts, or the gate fails to latch correctly within a year of completion, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely inspect your own PGT fence. Check for leaning posts with a level, look for cracked brackets, and test every gate hinge by lifting the gate slightly. That tells you where the problem is. What we don’t recommend is digging out and resetting posts yourself, especially on a PGT aluminum fence. The panels are heavy, the rail lock system is intolerant of misaligned posts, and a 24-inch footing hole in Orlando is hot, sandy work. One wrong post depth and you’ll be redoing the section in two years.
The dangerous part is the gate. PGT gates carry real weight, and the tensioned hinge hardware under load can pinch or kick if it’s removed wrong. If your gate is the problem, call us rather than wrestling it off the post. Tell me what the problem is. We’ll figure out the rest from there. You can reach us at (850) 920-7745, and we’ll give you a straight answer on whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
FAQs

A properly installed PGT aluminum or vinyl fence in Orlando lasts 20 to 30 years. Aluminum holds up better against our UV exposure, while vinyl can show sun fade after 10 to 15 years, but both outperform standard big-box fencing by a wide margin. Post and footing quality is the real limiter, not the panel material. Call (850) 920-7745 and we’ll tell you honestly what your existing fence can still give you.
Yes, in most cases a single section or component can be repaired or replaced without touching the rest of the fence. Rails, brackets, post caps, and gate hinges are all serviceable parts we stock locally. If the post itself is cracked or the footing has failed, that post gets replaced, but the adjacent panels usually stay. Call us at (850) 920-7745 for a free assessment and a written price either way.
A typical 150-foot PGT fence install in Orlando takes two to three working days, including post setting, panel installation, gate hanging, and cleanup. Larger projects or fences with difficult access run longer, and we’ll tell you the schedule in writing before we start. Rain can push us a day here and there, especially in summer, but the footings get done right regardless of which day they get poured.
We stock PGT fence panels, posts, brackets, post caps, and gate hardware for the series most common in the Orlando market, and we can order any PGT-series part not on the truck within a few days. We also stock compatible parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone product lines, so if you’re renovating multiple areas of the home, we can handle the full scope. Call (850) 920-7745 and we’ll confirm we have your part before we schedule the visit.
