Silestone Bathroom Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

If your Silestone bathroom surfaces have cracked, chipped, stained beyond repair, or the sink has separated from the counter, a bathroom remodel in Orlando typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on the scope. We carry Silestone-compatible slabs, sinks, and edging profiles, and we can usually match your existing color from the current Cosentino line. Most Orlando homeowners call us after a hairline crack near the sink bowl spreads into a full split, or when the polished finish has dulled to a cloudy haze that no amount of cleaning brings back.

Silestone is a quartz surface made by Cosentino, and it behaves differently in Florida humidity than it does in drier climates. The biggest issue we see in Orlando bathrooms is thermal shock: a hot curling iron set on a cold Silestone vanity top near an air conditioning vent. Quartz doesn’t handle rapid temperature swings well, and in a bathroom that goes from an 85-degree day to a 72-degree AC blast, the material expands and contracts just enough to create micro-fissures over time. Once those fissures start, water finds them, and then you have a stain that looks like a shadow under the surface.

We’re an independent remodeling contractor in Orlando, not affiliated with Cosentino or Silestone directly. What that means for you is we can install any Silestone color or finish without being tied to a manufacturer’s showroom, and we’re honest about when a repair makes more sense than a full replacement. Isaac Pruett, our owner, will tell you the same thing he tells every homeowner: “Tell me what the problem is. We’ll figure out the rest from there.”

Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone has produced dozens of color lines over the years, and the good news for Orlando homeowners is that most of the popular colors are still in production. If your bathroom vanity was installed within the last ten years, there’s a strong chance we can match the slab exactly. The older a color is, the more likely it’s been discontinued, and that’s where you have to decide between a close match and a full replacement of all surfaces in the bathroom.

Here’s how to identify what you have. Flip over a loose sink or look at the underside of the vanity top near the front edge. Silestone slabs are typically marked with a color name or batch number on the underside, and if you can find it, we can cross-reference it with the current Cosentino catalog in about fifteen minutes. If there’s no marking, a photo of the surface in natural light usually gets us within a color family. The critical measurement is thickness: Silestone comes in 1.2 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm thicknesses, and if your existing top is 1.2 cm, you’ll need a subtop or plywood decking under the new material. That detail catches a lot of DIY replacements off guard, because a 1.2 cm slab has almost no structural strength on its own.

For sinks, Silestone partners with a range of integrated bowl styles, and the sink is either epoxied underneath or cut flush. If your sink has separated from the countertop, it’s usually a failed epoxy bond from years of standing water at the seam. We stock OEM and quality aftermarket sinks that fit standard Silestone cutouts, and for integrated bowls, we can order direct from Cosentino with a two-to-three-week lead time.

We also work with other major brands, including KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria quartz, and Kohler fixtures, so if you’re replacing the vanity along with the Silestone surface, you’re not locked into one manufacturer for the whole bathroom.

Signs Your Silestone Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Hairline cracks radiating from the sink bowl or faucet holes. This is the most common failure in Orlando bathrooms. The crack usually starts at a drilled hole where the faucet mounts, because that’s where the material is thinnest. Over time, water seeps in and the crack darkens, and eventually it spreads across the full depth of the slab.
  • A dull, cloudy finish that won’t polish back. Silestone is a manufactured quartz with resin binders, and harsh cleaners like bleach or ammonia break down the resin at the surface. Once the resin is damaged, the stone looks permanently foggy, and no amount of Granite Gold or wiping is going to restore the shine. This is a finish failure, not a cleaning problem.
  • The sink has dropped or separated from the underside of the counter. We see this in Orlando homes where the humidity causes the plywood subtop to swell and rust the sink clips. Once the clips fail, the sink hangs by the plumbing, and the seal around the rim breaks. You’ll notice water pooling around the sink edge that never seems to dry.
  • Chipped edges along the front of the vanity or the shower threshold. Silestone edges are machined, and the most fragile profiles are the thin, sharp-edge styles. A dropped hair dryer or a shampoo bottle can take a chunk out of the leading edge. Small chips can sometimes be filled, but if the chip is in a wet area, the fill will eventually fail.
  • Dark staining that sits below the surface, especially around the faucet base. Quartz is non-porous, but the resin isn’t. If hard water sits on the surface for months, minerals can etch into the binder and leave a ring that looks like a coffee stain. We see this most on white and light gray Silestone colors in Orlando, where the water is hard and the humidity keeps surfaces wet longer.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled kitchen with painted cabinets and a farmhouse sink

For a Silestone bathroom remodel in Orlando, the installed price range is $9,000 to $28,000. The number that matters to you right now is what drives that range: a single vanity top replacement with a new integrated sink runs on the lower end, while a full bathroom gut with a Silestone shower surround, vanity top, tub deck, and new cabinetry runs toward the top. Here’s the line-item breakdown so you can self-qualify before you call:

  • Silestone vanity top with integrated sink (single basin): $1,800 – $4,200 installed
  • Silestone tub deck and surround: $3,500 – $7,500 installed
  • Silestone shower surround and threshold: $2,800 – $6,500 installed
  • Full bathroom remodel with Silestone surfaces, vanities, fixtures, and tile: $9,000 – $28,000
  • Small bathroom remodel with Silestone vanity top only: $5,000 – $12,000

Every job includes the slab material, fabrication (cutting, edging, sink cutout), delivery, installation, plumbing disconnect and reconnect for the sink, and haul-away of the old surface. You get a written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t move unless the scope changes in writing. Fabrication usually takes five to seven business days in Orlando, and installation is typically a one-day job for a vanity top or two days for a full surround. The work is covered by a 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we installed fails within a year of completion, we fix it at no cost to you.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself. Look for the thickness marking under the slab. Take photos of the damage in natural light. Measure the vanity top’s length and depth with a tape measure. All of that information helps us give you an accurate phone estimate before we send anyone to your home.

What you shouldn’t do is try to remove the Silestone slab yourself, and here’s why. A 2 cm or 3 cm quartz vanity top for a standard 48-inch vanity weighs between 120 and 180 pounds. That’s a two-person lift, and if it shifts while you’re loosening the sink clips or disconnecting the plumbing, it can drop. We’ve repaired more than one bathroom where a homeowner got halfway through a removal and realized the slab was bonded to the cabinet with construction adhesive. Silestone also needs a diamond blade to cut, and the dust is silica-heavy, which is a respiratory hazard without the right vacuum system. If the failure is just a separated sink, call us, and we can usually re-epoxy it in place for a fraction of a full replacement cost. Call (850) 920-7745 and we’ll walk through what you’re seeing before we ever schedule a visit.
